Wow! I haven't dated in 21 years, well... Actually James and I never really dated before being married, so longer then 21 years. To say that I am rusty at the whole "dating" thing is an understatement! While reading another blog, I came across this really cool idea to date A-Z you see what all that entails on my earlier post.
This past Saturday, I asked for date "A". When he picked me up, I was still running a little behind in drying my hair after a shower from my 4 mile run. All 4 kids were watching TV in the family room. With one section of hair a little damp, I sprayed on my perfume and was out the door.
He opened my car door in true Texas gentleman fashion. He complimented my dress and perfume. He held my hand as he drove. Our first stop was to eat... We did not follow the "A" letter rule here. I had just finished running and had not eaten so I agreed to a quick bite at Rosa's. He had played golf all morning, so he was just as famished. Conversation was great, the pace was slow and laid back. No talk of kids, work, or anything else that could push our minds away from each other's company. We just sat and talked about stuff. Random stuff, funny stuff, serious stuff. Just stuff! We had no distractions (well, there was a lady in the booth behind us arguing with herself and shaking her head when she was upset at something she was just arguing about) She was facing me, so I could clearly see she was not having a telephone conversation. It was just the two of us and it was wonderful! It was also awkward and something I though I'd be more comfortable doing, but if I am being honest, I felt a little out of place. Remember, It's been OVER 21 years since I've dated!
After we Ate, we headed across the street to the Artizen Outlet. It was nice to go inside and look at works from various local artists. He even bought a really cool metal picture. After that, we headed to a Texas Chic Art store, where we looked through all kinds of rustic furniture and Art works. We finished up our date at an Antique store. We had so much fun rummaging through the items in the store, talking about how we could "re purpose" some of the pieces and tried to decide if we should purchase an old truck hood and stick it out back. lol.
As he drove me home, we talked about the upcoming World Cup game, we arrived home and ended the evening cheering and talking about the game (I don't even remember who was playing, but it didn't matter), I was with my man and he was with me and we were having fun.
Next date... Well, it's the letter "B" So you'll need to stay tuned for those details.
