Fall, a time for changes & renewed orphan care opportunities.

I love Fall! It's a time of year for changes. For beautiful colors of life to change, newness, a prerequisite for the beauty and harshness of Winter. I love that Fall brings cooler weather, here in Texas... I am still waiting for it.

I've been hesitant to blog this, but I feel now is the time. After several years of advocating, I left an orphan advocacy group due to neglect and fraud by the administrative team. After countless emails back and forth, and the organization giving me personal and confidential information about potential adoptive families, withholding monies donated by others for adoptions (only for that money to just disappear from all accounts), and being told that if I continued to advocate for special needs children that were not listed with their organization on their FB page, I was removed and blocked. An organization who has lost their moral compass does not need me advocating, they have plenty of help.

It was hard to hear that my questioning of ethics was not accepted, that my questions were no longer going to be answered, they removed me. Yes, I was removed for asking questions about missing donations, advocating for families (instead of just a child... Because with this group, when you raise money for a child, the group gets 10%, when advocating for families, they get 0%) which I later found out many others before me and for years have been booted for the same things, so this is not anything new.

Lately, I hear the corruption has taken over and the children are being used in bait and switch tactics and profiles are being hidden by facilitators when families chose not to use them, but instead use another facilitator. My heart breaks. Why?  because I believe this organization could be a beautiful thing again, I truly feel they still have time to redeem what they started out being, a ministry, and they can still undo the ugly IF they wanted to. But the lies have infiltrated so many of their administrative, board, and oversight members, unless they start with new people of different mindset, they are not going to be great again. They do not like to be questioned, so it makes accountability and transparency in the dark. They are there to protect the establishment vs. remaking it. It's hard to hear story after story and to see so many special needs orphans suffer at the hands of those who focus on profit over families.

I've spoken with advocates who say, "I know what happened and it's sad, but I feel if I don't still advocate and raise money then I'm not doing my part." or another who said, "I need to be a part of something bigger, my heart is for SN orphans, so regardless of what they do, I'm still supporting them." Ya'll, God is bigger then any organization! There are other options of supporting orphans, in fact... After nearly a year, I've finally found a fit for my love of orphans.

I have become the Program's Coordinator (Volunteer position) for Life2Orphans, Inc. Life2Orphans is a collaborative, secular, non-profit organization established in 2003 by a group of caring individuals to advance the physical, mental and social welfare of orphans in Ukraine. Life2Orphans Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in the US, tax ID #20-5820570.

That's right folks, we are here to support the children that wait. The orphans who need food, medications, beds, therapy equipment, etc.

Life2Orphans, Inc. works directly with people who live and minister in Ukraine to get the necessary items, shipped, installed, and programs implemented.

We Currently have the following opportunities available to help those children left behind in Ukraine and waiting for families.

  • Beds for bedridden children (currently sleeping on the floor due to orphanage evacuations) This is an EMERGENCY NEED!
  • Become a monthly sponsor of a special needs child/ren.
  • Project of the Month.
  • Donate for food to be sent to Children.
  • Individual Orphan Care sponsorships.
  • Ukraine Maidan Aid Project (Medical and Other Needs)
  • Special Needs Equipment
  • Lunch Program
  • and several others that are on-going like Construction Projects.
Would you, your family, your company, or your church group be willing to help out a child in need this year? We will have the Christmas program coming up soon. This is an opportunity for you to raise $ to buy necessary "gifts" for children in an orphanage.

I am excited about this new opportunity for me. I hope that you would prayerfully consider joining me in this journey to help those who need us. Feel free to contact me if you are willing to help or want to head up one of these programs.
