Alphabet Date Nights

With all our busyness, I find that spending time loving on my ONE TRUE LOVE is less and less. Work, kids, life, etc. seem to take up most of my time and energy. While my husband appreciates all that I do, I personally don't feel I've done enough with him, alone, just me and him. Rekindling our love and passion for each other. My husband is my first vocation and I've let that slip. Since we didn't really "date", I'm taking the initiative to date my husband and I'm going to be creative and intentional about it.

A friend of mine suggested dating from A-Z. So I did some research.

The idea is to start at the beginning of the alphabet and take turns planning a date around that letter. There are obviously 26 letters in the alphabet, so this is a good chunk of the year dating, I don't see us realistically doing a date night every week, maybe every other week or even just monthly. I plan on posting the ideas we come up with as we go! Here are the rules:
  1. It has to be something that we wouldn’t usually do
  2. It has to be something that we would both enjoy
  3. It cannot be too expensive
  4. No swapping letters
  5. The letter owner has to organize all of the arrangements
  6. Activities are to remain a secret until the day of the date
Until we get the hang of this, I'm sure I'll be doing most of the planning. In Midland, many of these letters may end up taking us out of town for a day or a weekend, but it'll be worth every minute with the love of my life.

Are you up for the challenge? This can totally be modified, I even thought how awesome it would be for single parents to do this with their children. Please comment and share what you've done when you do it.

  1. I love this idea! With 5 kids at home, carving out time to nurture my relationship with my husband is challenging, but necessary! I'm thinking I may borrow this idea and do twice a month dates!
